FIGHT NIGHT!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen!!!

In the Blue Corner,

Weighing in at 100 people,

1/2 of the U.S. Congress,

Represented in majority by the Democratic Party,

THE......U.S. SEEEEEEEEENAAAAAAATTTTEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

and in the Red Corner,

Weighing in at over 400 people,

1/2 of the U.S. Congress,

Represented in majority by the Republican Party,

THE...HOUSE OF REPRESEEEEEEENTATIVES!!!!!!!!!!

AND NOW,

thousands in attendance,

and the millions watching around the world,

LETS GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

And that's how the fight to defund ObamaCare goes.

The Republican majority House of Representatives approved a vote to defund the ObamaCare program. As usual, the bill then passed to the Senate.

The Democratic majority Senate rejects the bill which now falls back to the House of Representatives.

There are obviously a number of power shots and kicks going at it over this bill in Congress.
The media has held no hands in coverage that has included analysts of both parties.
There has been "he said, she said" and hard and soft journalism revolving this bill.

As the bill goes back and forth we now allude to a potential government shut down.

Who is really going to win this one!!!

I'm calling a KNOCK OUT blow for the Democratic Senate and a LOW BLOW on the Republican House of Representatives for pushing a Government SHUT DOWN!!!

Nevermind the impact that a Government shut down has on America, or the best interest for the people, now it's simply DEFUND or DEAL WITH IT!!!

Not Cool!!!

  1. It's a terrible situation that we have been able to come to an agreement to. As I said in a different blog post I cannot believe that the Republican Party would be willing to defund the government unless Obamacare is defunded. This law has been upheld by the Supreme Court and passed by Congress. Furthermore, the American people have reelected the President in an election where the choice regarding the Obamacare was pretty clear. You can't hold governmental funding if you don't get your way regarding a law, this is not how a republic should be governed. What do you think of the matter? Additionally, there is no way that the Democratic Senate and a Democratic President will give on their signature legislative achievement over the past four years.

  2. I really like the theme you having going with the blog. The Knockouts and Low-blows are a creative and direct way to express how the media and politics interact. The government shutdown is an issue that is clearly a form of swapping blows until a complete knockout, and that is a great way to define how the media has approached the issue. It seems there is always someone or a political party taking hits in media reports. I Look forward to your future post.

  3. This is an intersting theme you have. The goverment can be like little children fighting over candy so it was appropriate to use a boxing metaphor. The sad thing about the goverment shutdown was that people were losing money, yet the the party members were not the ones losing money. The shutdown was pointless because at that point it was nothing could be done about Obamacare.
